Addition to “EKO OSTA” fleet - specialized vehicle for collecting oils

febr. 18, 2021

Hazardous waste management company "EKO OSTA" has added a new specialized vehicle to its fleet. The compact and manoeuvrable vehicle is especially suitable for collecting waste oil from car repair shops, car dealerships and industrial companies. The 12-tonne Volvo FL truck for the collection and transport of various environmentally hazardous

liquid waste is equipped with a tank with a pumping unit. This Swedish truck has been designed and adapted specifically for the urban environment, but its engine complies with the strict Euro 6 environmental standards. Promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach, the new vehicle uses a refurbished tank from a 30-year-old Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The chassis of the old vehicle had reached the end of its life and it was no longer useful to continue operating it; however, the Glahn & Plaumann aluminium tank and equipment could be renovated and continued to be used on the new chassis.

A sustainable solution

""We chose the best solution in the long run, both from the financial point of view and from the point of view of sustainable thinking. Together with our cooperation partners, we performed an in-depth technical inspection of the old tank and equipment and found that it is in amazingly good technical condition. In order to prolong its working life, we decided to carry out a complete renovation, during which we replaced the pumping equipment with a new one. After the renovation, the tank is like new

and will last for many more years,” emphasizes Jurģis Ansfelds, Head of the Transport Department of “EKO OSTA”.

Part of a long-term strategy

Updating its fleet is a part of the company’s strategy to improve the quality of services provided to customers and expand the range of services. In order to offer the best range of hazardous waste management services, the company continues to develop its technical base. For the convenience of customers, “EKO OSTA” also provides consultations on hazardous waste management and their proper documentation.
