The hazardous and environmentally harmful waste management company SIA “EKO OSTA” carries out remediation works of the territory within the framework of “The 1st stage of Skanstes territory revitalization”.

Before commencement of construction works a wide and intense contamination with petroleum products was detected exceeding the limit values set out in the regulatory enactments.  Taking into account the circumstances of spreading, the intensity of the detected contamination, the location of the territory, the impact of the construction works thereof and other factors, “EKO OSTA” specialists determined the most suitable methods for remediation works and coordinated the remedial work program with the competent institution.  

With the purpose to ensure qualitative and sustainable remediation works, the contaminated soil in the amount of more than 4 000 m³ has already been excavated and transported for disposal, the polluted water in the amount of more than 180 m³ water has been pumped and removed. Currently a permanent plastic corrugated wall is being constructed as well as petroleum, oil separator is being installed.

“EKO OSTA” expresses gratitude to the contracting authority - the City Development Department of Riga Council, the general contractor SIA “RR-EKO”, as well as Lielriga Regional Environmental Board for qualitative and prompt environment-directed cooperation.
